Anglo-Saxon’s crazy cures

The Anglo-Saxons had some pretty unusual ideas about how to cure illnesses or injuries. They didn’t know anything about bacteria or most of what we consider traditional medicine. Instead they used in a mish-mash of superstition, magic and herbal remedies (some of which as still used to today) in order to treat the sick.

The year is 878 and King Alfred the Great is hiding from the Vikings in the hovel of an overbearing peasant woman.
