A new heritage project for children in and out of school, exploring the Anglo-Saxons.

Children will help us create a chaotic and silly new play about Anglo-Saxon stories from East Anglia and beyond. This will tour schools and community venues this Summer, as part of an interactive ‘experience day’ - featuring lots of ‘have a go’ workshops to allow children to learn in a fun, hands-on way.

Ways you can join in

Become a volunteer!
We’re looking for volunteers to help run craft workshops in West Suffolk primary schools to accompany our forthcoming ‘Let's Make History’ show. The workshops will enable children to do hands-on investigations of some aspects of Anglo Saxon life. You don’t need to be an expert at all, full training will be given. You just need to be an enthusiastic and reliable helper who is happy to be dressed up in the top fashions of the 7th Century and get their hands messy!

We will organise for you to be DBS checked, you will receive Level 1 Makaton training, and any travel expenses will be reimbursed. You get to do some fun sessions with the children and of course to see the show too.

We’ll be touring schools during the daytimes in the weeks beginning 10 June and 17 June, and there are also some weekend public shows (16, 22, 23 and 29 June). You don’t need to be available for every day - at this stage, we’re just looking for people who are keen and happy to give some time during those weeks.

You can sign up by emailing amy@spinningwheeltheatre.com or completing the form.

Attend one of our experience days
We’ll be holding a number of Anglo-Saxon experience days (including a performance) across Suffolk this June. More info on specific dates and venues coming soon!
